Summermusik Announces Inaugural Kreitler Commission Competition Winner

CINCINNATI, OH – Summermusik in partnership with Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh, Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle (NC), and Reno Chamber Orchestra are pleased to announce Matt Browne as the winner of the inaugural Kreitler Commission Competition. Matt was chosen from a pool of 237 applicants from 18 countries through a blind selection process based solely on the merit of two submitted work samples. He will now begin composing a new work for chamber orchestra with a world premiere by Summermusik in August 2025 with subsequent performances by partner orchestras throughout the 2025-2026 season. Matt also will receive a $10,000 grand prize. Composers Yanchen Ye and Alexis C. Lamb were designated as the 1st and 2nd runner-up. This competition adds to the exciting lineup of 2024 concerts in Cincinnati and highlights the vibrant Cincinnati music scene.
